Manerva Hall was born a slave at Oak Hill Plantation 27 JAN 1830, the daughter of Sallie White and a sister of Dilsy Washington. Some time after emancipation Manerva Hall moved to Massachusetts where she died. In December of 1883 her son brought her body back to Charles City for burial in the slave cemetery at Oak Hill. Manerva Hall was the wife of Peter Hall, Pres. John Tyler’s coachman. They were the parents of James T. Hall who was born at Oak Hill 29 DEC 1847. James T.
