Billy Roane was an 18 year-old slave owned by Thomas H. Willcox of North Bend Plantation. He was convicted on 19 MAY 1849 of attempting to poison his master by putting poison in his food and was condemned to death. Charles City County Minute Book 1848-1860, p 44.
