Sarah Quivers was the wife of Jonathan Quivers and the mother of Sarah (Polly) Kemp, Lucy, Eleanor, Coy and Emanuel according to a family history. Quivers Family Notes, typescript photocopy, Charles City County Richard M. Bowman Center for Local History Archives. She may be the 22nd slave listed in the Signer’s Inventory listed as “yellow” Sarah, age 17 and valued at 40 pounds sterling. Family tradition states that she was a daugher of the Signer.
