Daugther of Peggy and sibling of Manuel, Lucy, Sally, Coy and Nelly. The striking similarity in the names of Peggy’s children and those of Jonathan and Sarah Quivers strongly sugggests this is a Quivers family and that Peggy might have been the first wife of Coy Quivers. Agnes is one of the slaves mentioned in deeds mortgaging all of the slaves and property at Berkeley and was purchased by Joseph R. Anderson for $545 in the same bill of sale which describes the two as “Manuel and Agnes Quivers.” Deed of 13 MAY 1828, Charles City Deed Book No. 7, pg. 295. Bill of sale 13 DEC 1845, Tredigar Papers, Library of Virginia Archives. Agnes Allen is listed in the household of Anderson in the 1870 census. She died 08 JAN 1887 in Richmond and her death record indicates she was born 1822 at “Berkeley” Virginia and that she was widowed.
