Fanny Hall was one of three slaves mentioned by name in Pres. Tyler’s will. With respect to “faithful servants” William Short and Fanny Hall Tyler cautioned his beneficiaries to take care “so that their old age may be rendered comfortable.” Charles City County Will Book No. 6, p. 146. Fanny Hall is believed to be the wife of the Tony whose funeral service the President and Mrs. Tyler attended. She is also believed to be the mother of Peter Hall.
