Primus Green was a slave who belonged to William Southall Graves of Cherry Hall. A list was made by John Edmond Graves of slaves belonging to his father some twenty years after the war in the belief that southern property owners would be compensated for loss of their slaves. Primus Green was listed as age 45, presumably meaning he was 45 in 1865. Charles City County Richard M. Bowman Center for Local History Archives, Family Records collection.
