Member of Militia Company formed 21 NOV 1776; when he enlisted at the Chesterfield Courthouse in 1780 he was described as age 22, 5′ 7″ tall, black hair, black eyes, dark complexion, planter, born in and a resident of Charles City Co; enlisted 22 SEP 1780 for 18 months. Serg. Henry WELLS enlisted in the 1st Virginia Regiment 07 FEB 1778 for one year, much of which he was sick. His last report was in JAN 1779. Sergeant Henry WILLS served at Valley Forge in the 1st VA Regiment, Alexander CUMMINS Company. He is shown as “Enlisted Feb 4, 1778” in Feb. and March 1778, “Sick Present” May 1778, and “Sick Absent – Philadelphia” in June 1778. (Sometimes spelled WELLS)
