Filed a pension application in 1836 as a resident of Monroe Co., Missouri; stated that he was born in Charles City 15 MAR 1755; while a resident of Brunswick Co., Va. enlisted in the Virginia militia; after the war lived in Brunswick and Dinwiddie counties, before moving to Missouri. A Private William MAJOR served at Valley Forge in the 14th VA Regiment, Capt. Thomas Thwealt’s Company. He was shown as “Enlisted” in Feb. 1778, “On Roll without Comment” in Jan., March, and April 1778, “Sick Present” in May 1778, and “Sick at Valley Forge” in June 1778. It is not clear if this is the same man.
