Filed a pension application as a resident of Campbell Co., VA and testified that he enlisted in 1776 as a private in the militia as a minute man in James City Co., served at the Palace Yard where he performed Garrison duty for 4 or 5 months, he returned home to Campbell Co. until he was called up again in the Campbell Co. militia and was marched to Holt’s Forge to stand guard as the British fleet lay in the James River, after a period of 3 months he was dismissed. He was born in County Kent, England in 1758, was living in James City Co. when called into service and in Charles City Co. (2 years).
