Enlisted in SEP 1775 from Pittslyvania Co. under Capt. George Nicholas, in the 2nd VA Reg. to guard Williamsburg, guarding and keeping the Magazine & Arsenal in order, cleaning the arms, putting up cannon balls and conveying them from Burwell’s Landing on the James River to the Arsenal. Re-enlisted 01 APR 1780 as a substitute for Hugh GAMBLE who was drafted in Pittsylvania Co. to go against the Cherokee Indians on Holston River. He was born in Charles City Co. 02 JUN 1758 and llived in Virginia, Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina before taking up residence in Rabun Co. GA.
