Enlisted in the 6th Virginia Regiment for a three year term and died in service as attested by the certificate of John BELL, a Lt. of the regiment; in 1808 a land bounty of 100 acres was awarded to Nancy Smith, wife of Michael Smith, who was identified as the only child of Raverly GOING by the testimony of Freeman BROWN and James BROWN. The only GOING listed in the rolls of the 6th Virginia Regiment is a DAVID GOING who enlisted for 3 years and DIED in service 13 MAY 1778, thus suggesting DAVID and RAVERLY were the same man. Hobson’s Roll Remarks: Deceased July 4, 1777.
