Enlisted in the 6th Virginia Regiment for a three year term, arriving at Valley Forge in March of 1778; from May until September he was in the hospital at Yellow Springs; no further record of his service, though his wife, Mildred CUMBO, received a warrant for the support of herself and 2 children in July of 1779. Michael CUMBO is shown as serving at Valley Forge in the 6th VA. He is shown as “Fit for Duty” in Apr. 1778, and as “Sick Present” in May and Jun. 1778. Additional Remarks: Enlisted Sep. 5, 1777 and first borne on roll for Mar. 1778 without remark; May and Jun. 1778, sick at Yellow Spring Hospital.
