Entered service in the Charles City militia as a minute man; was attached to the company of Capt. Richard TAYLOR and rendezvoused at Charles City Courthouse and marched to Sandy Point where barracks were built; the military forces at this point were under Maj. EDLOE; drafted JUL or AUG 1778 into militia under Capt. Peter ROYSTER and marched to Williamsburg to guard the public records and defend the town and the Governor for three months; saw additional service elsewhere; moved to Smith County Tennessee after the war, was born 14 SEP 1757.
