My 10th great grandfather Capt. Thomas Graves was a charter member of the London Company and a part of the second group of colonists who arrived at Jamestown in 1608 aboard the Mary and Margaret.  He represented Smythes Hundred in the Virginia Assembly convened at Jamestown, July 30, 1619, the first American legislative body known as the House of Burgesses.

My 5th great grandfather Col. Richard Croshaw Graves commanded New Kent and Charles City County Militias during the Revolutionary War.
